The 29th YRTC Spring Race was held in Connellsville on April 8, 2023, and what a successful event it was. The Yough River Trail Council had 276 participants this year, and despite a morning start that dawned cold at just a little over 30 degrees, the day was soon sun-filled and perfect weather for those walking or running on the trail.

The race is one of the largest trail fundraisers and the Yough River Trail Council is so thankful for all those who came out to do the event. An event of this magnitude could never happen without amazing volunteers which consisted of members of the YRTC council, members of the Connellsville Lions Club,  faithful businesses, and private sponsors. This year, a wonderful addition of volunteers came out to support also - members of the Connellsville Leo Club! All volunteers supported the race by manning the registration area, and water stops, and even days before, helped treat the trail so it was in optimal condition for the event. In addition, they helped with clean up afterward. From helping at the finish line with bibs, medals, and snacks, all volunteers provided support that made the race a rewarding experience and the YRTC looks for a profit for the trail of between $5,000-$6,000.
