In a show of solidarity and community spirit, the Connellsville Lions Club launched a fundraising campaign aimed at bolstering the efforts of five indispensable local volunteer fire departments. Our initiative not only garnered widespread support but also ignited a sense of unity among other organizations and individuals, resulting in the distribution of a generous $7,000 in 2021.
This heartwarming endeavor received a significant boost from the Community Foundation of Fayette County (CFFC), which extended a helping hand with a substantial $2,000 grant from its Emergency Relief Fund. This support arrived at a time when the usual fundraising avenues for first responders were adversely impacted by the ongoing pandemic. CFFC’s commitment went beyond a single organization, benefiting five deserving entities through its collaboration with the Connellsville Lions Club.
The fortunate recipients of this aid included the Bullskin Township Volunteer Fire Department, New Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department, Morell Volunteer Fire Department, and South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department. With the funds received, these volunteer fire departments can now acquire essential equipment and supplies, ensuring the continuity of their vital services to the community.
The overwhelming response to this initiative exemplifies the power of a well-supported and promising cause. Phyllis Kovall, Past President of the Connellsville Lions Club, expressed her gratitude, saying, “The financial support provided through this grant empowered us to engage with other local businesses and individuals, encouraging their involvement as well.”
Lion Kovall underscored the indispensable role of organizations like CFFC in sustaining nonprofits, remarking, “Nonprofit organizations, including our cherished volunteer fire departments, rely on the generosity of institutions like CFFC to fulfill their crucial missions.” Beyond our support for volunteer fire departments, the Connellsville Lions Club remains dedicated to various community endeavors, from contributing to revitalization projects and community events to engaging in a wide spectrum of community service activities. Through its grant program, CFFC amplifies these collective efforts, contributing to the ongoing growth and resilience of our beloved Fayette community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined hands with us in this remarkable journey of community support. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who selflessly serve and protect our community. Let us continue to unite and build a stronger Connellsville for all.
