Today's 2nd Annual Connellsville Lions Club Golf Outing was an outstanding success, thanks largely to the dedication and hard work of the Connellsville Lions Club Golf Commitee members: Lysa Greer, Sarah McGinley, Dr. John Ellis, Tom Dickey, Sheila Kurtz, Donna Welsh, Phyllis and Ted Kovall, and many others. Their months of meticulous planning and preparations ensured that the event ran smoothly.

This year, the proceeds were to benefit the local Connellsville Fire Departments: New Haven Hose Company, Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department, South Connellsville Fireman's Club, Morrell Volunteer Fire Company, and the Bullskin Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Perfect Conditions For Participants

We were blessed with perfect weather conditions, with sunny skies, temperatures in the 70s, and a light breeze that made for an ideal day of golf. The golf course was showcased in all its splendor. Nineteen foursomes of golfers graced the Pleasant Valley Golf Club, where the staff played an instrumental role in setting up for breakfast, attending to our needs, and serving a delicious lunch.

Event Highlights

The day kicked off early with committee members arriving at 6:30 AM for setup. Registration opened at 8:00 AM, followed by a 9:00 AM start. A couple of standout attractions were the hole-in-one giveaways: a car provided by Megan Ford and a $50,000 prize courtesy of State Farm Insurance through Lion Tom Dickey. Additionally, several members of our Leo Club came out to lend a hand.

The event featured incredible basket raffle donations, including a trip to Myrtle Beach and a golf cross stitch crafted by Lion Sheila Kurtz. We sold a multitude of mulligans, and our 50/50 drawing awarded nearly $800.00 to the lucky winner. While we still need to finalize our total revenue after paying all the bills, all profits from the event will be donated to our local volunteer fire departments.

The golf tourney this year also featured a set of skills such as Closet to the Pin, Longest Drive (Mens and Womens), and Longest Putt.

A huge thank you goes out to the golf committee, our sponsors, and the Connellsville community for making this event memorable. We captured numerous photos, including each basket entry, showcasing the impressive donations.
